Book Review: The Fine Art of Lying by Alexandra Andrews

The Fine Art of Lying The Fine Art of Lying by Alexandra Andrews
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Clare Gast is a stay-at-home young mother living on the Upper East Side of NYC with a PhD in art history (all but dissertation).  Her husband is a lawyer, and her in-laws are affluent and very connected in New York City society.  She meets the owner of an art gallery and makes the first in a series of very bad decisions when she starts having an affair with him.

We are immersed in the world of expensive art, wealth and privilege, along with deceit, theft and murder.  Clare and her husband  become suspects in the murder, and much of the last portion of the book delves into how this is resolved.  This is another fast-paced, page-turner mystery, although the resolution is rather convoluted.  Although many of the characters are very unlikable, I just loved reading about the art scene, art galleries, rich people gatherings, and entitlement.
